Media can be incorporated into any unit you are teaching. Here are some tips to help you find ways to use media every day in your classroom:
- Look for 'exploitable moments' - what are your students interested in? what is happening in the media right now?
- Look for media texts (newspaper articles, Youtube videos, newsreports, websites etc...) that cover content from a Science or Social Studies unit.
- Have your students create media texts as final products for other content units - a Prezi or poster for a science presentation, a blog post for a book report, a podcast for a piece of writing, an infographic for a social studies topic...
- Let students bring in their own media to discuss.
